Blyth heritage project with Silx
I initiated and delivered this intergenerational project in Blyth with Silx Teen Bar and the Over 50’s Forum, a project supporting people to explore their local social history .
The groups wanted to make an exhibition and a book using people’s stories, pictures and memories that told the story and experiences of young people from Blyth over many decades . For one year we met with local people and individuals and collected material, editing it at regular intervals, and presenting it as an exhibition in the local shopping centre. We also created films, using archive materials and new photographs which were shown as large projections within a public space in Blyth.
Many stories were gathered from a local facebook group and all the material was edited into a book, which is now available in local shops and the library.
The project was funded through a Heritage Lottery award.
